Gutenberg V-16.9

Almost everyone knows what WordPress is! If not, wait for a few more minutes; let me explain briefly in the next couple of minutes. If you’re a beginner, remember there are two editors in WordPress:

  1. Classic WordPress Editor
  2. Block Editor (like Gutenberg)

Today, we’re going to focus on Gutenberg’s new update; however, it’s essential to know about the classic editor too. Whether you’re a seasoned website designer or a website developer, you can’t skip this basic WordPress knowledge. Everyone’s career starts with WordPress alone! So, that’s the intro; let’s begin to see more details now.

What is WordPress?

What is Wordpress

Actually, it’s a free and open-source CMS (Content Management System) where users can create websites and manage them in one place. This handy tool emerged in 2003, thanks to Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little.

Starting from a digital marketer to a blogger, everyone prefers WordPress because of its user-friendliness and the ability to add plugins, themes, and templates, among other features. In short, without coding, you can build excellent, impressive, and attractive websites.

I’m not going to explain more about WordPress, as the post is all about editors. Let’s see what all those tiny things are!

#1 Classic Editor

Classic Editor

In simple words, it’s just a rich text editor where you can add text, images, videos, and more, which will resemble a Microsoft Word document.

#2 Block Editor

Block Editor

Here, you will see each module is separated as a block, which is easy to access. You can drag and drop it on the page wherever you like, making it highly user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing.

Gutenberg comes under the block editor category. Instead of an extended text area, Gutenberg breaks content into small blocks like Title, Image, Headings, Table, Widgets, and more. These sections may differ depending on your theme.

That’s all there is to know about the editor, and there’s nothing more to it.

Let’s see the latest update about Gutenberg.

Previously, these blocks were easy to drag and drop. However, if the website is long and contains more content, it’s hard to find the block that needs to be edited or enhanced. So, naming them will be an ideal choice for the designers, and now that feature is enabled on Gutenberg V-16.9.

#1 Rename Any Block

Now, renaming the blocks has become easier than before. Let’s see the snippet below.

However, this renaming will not work for the following:

core/block

core/template-part

core/pattern

core/navigation

#2 You can Duplicate the Pattern

Just like renaming, you can duplicate the designs by copying and pasting the same block.

#3 Rename or Delete the Pattern

You can edit the pattern category within the user interface, which is a brilliant move.

#4 Media Category

Unlike before, you can categorize the videos and audio, making them easy to access. As per WordPress, this is “for better organization of curated patterns.

#5 Reorganize the Menu Section

In case your website has a familiar pattern and relatively the same design menus, you can rearrange them according to your needs for a better design experience. In the case of images, you can edit their height, width, and aspect ratio, making them more accessible.

Finally!

Why is this post for? Just a heads up for those who are immersively devoting their time to WordPress design: this update will be the best for them! See you all in the next interesting info… Tata… Peace out✌🏻 — Jana
